Following years of songwriting and recording together, the pair delivered one of their most successful albums, reaching No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart and producing several of their best-known songs.

Gallagher and Lyle had already built an impressive musical résumé, including songwriting work for other performers and recordings with the folk-rock group McGuinness Flint. Their own music draws on British folk traditions, American country-rock and the polished melodic sensibility of 1970s singer-songwriters.
