House as catalogue DIS 002. The 12" pairs the Keith Tucker Mix with the Strand Mix, featuring vocals from Mike Jeffers, and forms the second release on Tucker's house-oriented D.I.S. House imprint.

Keith Tucker is one of the important figures in Detroit's electronic music underground, with a catalogue spanning electro, techno and house. On this release, the Heidelberg Project name allows him to explore a warmer, more vocal-led side of the Detroit sound, with Mike Jeffers bringing a soulful presence to the track.

The Keith Tucker Mix sits firmly in the Detroit house tradition, combining a deep electronic groove with understated synth work and Jeffers' vocal. Rather than going for the harder, more futuristic side of Tucker's electro productions, the track has a soulful, late-night quality that makes it particularly appealing to collectors of deeper and more atmospheric house music.

On the flip, the Strand Mix provides an equally strong alternative interpretation. This version has developed a following well beyond the original release, with the Strand Mix subsequently appearing in DJ selections including a 2012 Resident Advisor chart by Boris Werner, demonstrating that the track continued to circulate among selectors long after its original release.

The record has also continued to surface in specialist house and soulful dance-music selections, including a 2017 Raw House Supreme programme that placed Heidelberg Project alongside artists such as Blaze, Glenn Underground, Abacus and 2000 Black. This helps underline its appeal to collectors interested in the deeper, more soulful side of Detroit house rather than mainstream dance music.

For collectors, DIS 002 is an appealingly obscure Detroit house 12", particularly for followers of Keith Tucker, D.I.S. House and the wider Detroit underground. The combination of the Mike Jeffers vocal, Tucker's production and the sought-after Strand Mix makes Same Old Shit, Different Day a strong addition to collections focused on deep house, Detroit house and early-2000s underground electronic music.

Tracklist

Side A

Same Old Shit, Different Day (Keith Tucker Mix)

Side B

Same Old Shit, Different Day (Strand Mix)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1009/1013/7686/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_0ab0a7d3-658d-46e4-97de-497a8a3d6af0.jpg?v=1789038942
