Known for his distinctive, approachable piano style and his success in British popular music, Conway delivers a programme that balances expressive melody with the warmth and refinement of traditional easy listening.

On this album, Conway is joined by Michael Collins and his Concert Orchestra, with the Williams Singers contributing choral accompaniment. The combination of piano, orchestra and voices gives the collection a polished, richly arranged character, drawing on the traditions of light classical music, instrumental pop and the orchestral entertainment music that was popular in Britain during the late 1950s and early 1960s.

The title track, “My Concerto For You”, sets the tone with its romantic, concert-inspired character. The programme continues with “The Way To The Stars” and “Dream Of Olwen”, both associated with the classic British film-music tradition, before “Dusk” introduces a more reflective mood. “The Lonely Melody” and “The Warsaw Concerto” further demonstrate the album’s emphasis on expressive themes and memorable piano-led arrangements.

The second side maintains this atmosphere with “Autumn Concerto” and “Forgotten Dreams”, two pieces that suit Conway’s lyrical approach to the piano. “Cornish Rhapsody”, known for its association with the film Love Story (1944), adds another highlight from the world of British screen music. “Jeannie” and “Till” bring a popular-song sensibility to the collection, while “La Mer” closes the album with one of the best-known melodies in the international popular repertoire.

Rather than focusing on contemporary rock or beat music, My Concerto For You celebrates melody, arrangement and instrumental performance. Its blend of piano, concert orchestra and chorus makes it an appealing listen for fans of vintage easy listening, light classical music, traditional pop and mid-century film themes.

For collectors of classic Columbia LPs and listeners drawn to the gentler side of British popular music, this album offers an engaging snapshot of the era's musical tastes. Its varied programme moves comfortably between concert-style compositions, cinematic themes and familiar standards, making it well suited to relaxed listening and collections devoted to vintage instrumental music.

Tracklist

Side A

A1 – My Concerto For You

A2 – The Way To The Stars

A3 – Dream Of Olwen

A4 – Dusk

A5 – The Lonely Melody

A6 – The Warsaw Concerto

Side B

B1 – Autumn Concerto

B2 – Forgotten Dreams

B3 – Cornish Rhapsody

B4 – Jeannie

B5 – Till

B6 – La Mer
