About Sounds + Grounds.

Sounds & Grounds is an independent record shop in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, founded in July 2022, built around two simple things - a love of music and a great cup of coffee.

Part vinyl store, part coffee spot, Sounds & Grounds is a place where you can take your time, browse records, discover new music, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're a serious collector, a casual listener, or just curious about vinyl, everyone is welcome through the door.

We believe record shops should be more than just places to buy music - they should be places where people connect through it.

Vinyl Records, Music Culture & Crate Digging.

At the heart of Sounds & Grounds is our ever-changing selection of pre-loved vinyl. Our racks are packed with everything from classic albums and cult favourites to rare finds and unexpected gems across a wide range of genres.

You’ll find LPs, 7" singles, and CDs covering rock, soul, reggae, punk, indie, electronic, jazz and more. Every record is carefully cleaned, checked and graded before it hits the shelves so collectors can browse with confidence.

Great Coffee While You Browse

Great music deserves great coffee. That’s why we serve Lavazza, alongside a menu of cold drinks, teas, iced coffees, and sweet treats.

Whether you’re popping in for a quick espresso or settling in with a flat white whilst browsing the racks, the coffee side of Sounds & Grounds helps create the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere we’re known for.

Records and coffee have always gone hand in hand - we just brought them together under one roof.

Supporting Local & Independent

Being based on the Isle of Wight is a big part of who we are. We love working with local suppliers and independent creators whenever we can.

From locally baked cakes made by Calbourne Classics to collaborations with independent designers like Iron Bone Co., we try to support small businesses and celebrate creativity wherever possible.

Sounds & Grounds is also proudly dog friendly, so don’t be surprised if you meet a few four-legged music fans while browsing.
