'Blue Orbits' formerly Triangulum – Live at Sounds & Grounds

We're delighted to welcome Triangulum back to Sounds & Grounds for another special in-store performance on Tuesday 13th October 2026.
You may remember this brilliant contemporary jazz trio from their debut performance at Sounds & Grounds in April 2024. Since then, Triangulum have continued to develop their distinctive blend of jazz grooves, contemporary standards, original compositions and inventive reworkings of familiar songs.
Formed on the Isle of Wight, Triangulum brings together three highly accomplished musicians: Jon Thorne on double bass, Tom Barker on keys and Chris Jones on drums. Together they create an energetic, melodic and rhythmically adventurous sound that draws on jazz while taking inspiration from a much wider musical landscape.
Meet Triangulum
Jon Thorne – Double Bass
Jon Thorne is perhaps best known as the bassist of the acclaimed electronic duo Lamb, but his musical career extends far beyond electronic music. He has performed and recorded with internationally recognised artists including Robert Plant, Jon Hopkins, Donovan and Laura Mvula, bringing a wealth of experience across jazz, electronic, folk, rock and experimental music.
Tom Barker – Keys
Tom Barker is an established jazz pianist on the Isle of Wight, bringing a strong knowledge of jazz harmony and improvisation to the trio. His keyboard work provides much of Triangulum's melodic and harmonic character, allowing the group to move effortlessly between intimate passages and fast-paced grooves.
Chris Jones – Drums
Chris Jones is a versatile and exciting drummer and a founding member of The Plastic Mermaids. His dynamic approach to rhythm gives Triangulum its energetic edge, helping drive the trio through their more upbeat grooves while providing the space for the other musicians to improvise and explore.
Contemporary Jazz With A Twist
Triangulum aren't a traditional jazz trio. Their repertoire can encompass original compositions, classic jazz including music by Duke Ellington, and imaginative jazz arrangements of modern rock, pop and folk songs.
Expect an evening of fast-paced grooves, improvisation, melodic piano, deep double-bass lines and dynamic drumming, performed in the intimate surroundings of Sounds & Grounds.
Their previous Sounds & Grounds performance was captured on video, with the trio performing live as Jon Thorne on double bass, Tom Barker on keys and Chris Jones on drums.
We're thrilled to have them back for another evening of live jazz in the heart of the Isle of Wight.
Spaces are strictly limited to 30 people, so advance booking is HIGHLY recommended.

All gigs are currently limited to 30 tickets.
Seating is available, and we have a ramp for wheelchair access. If you have any specific accessibility requirements, please get in touch in advance so we can assist you.
Please note these are not BYO events, and alcoholic drinks are not available in-store. Our regular menu and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks will be available throughout the event.
Returns & Ticket Policy
We are committed to ensuring a positive experience for all guests attending events at Sounds & Grounds.
As our gigs are held in a small, intimate space with a maximum capacity of 30 people, all ticket sales are limited and carefully managed.
If we need to cancel or reschedule an event due to unforeseen circumstances, or if the event becomes unviable due to ticket sales, all tickets will be fully refunded via the original payment method.
We operate a 7-day cooling-off period from the date of purchase, during which tickets may be refunded. After this period, and within 14 days of the event date, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled by us.
Cancellations due to change of mind or personal unavailability cannot be accepted due to the limited nature of these events.
