Big Brovaz – Nu Flow

Big Brovaz – Nu Flow (Shy FX & T Power Remix)

A meeting of early-2000s UK R&B and British bass-music culture, “Nu Flow (Shy FX & T Power Remix)” reworks Big Brovaz's breakthrough single through the production partnership of Shy FX and T Power. Running to 5:52, this extended remix offers an alternative take on one of the defining UK urban-pop hits of 2002, connecting the group's melodic vocals and hip-hop-influenced identity with the sound-system heritage of the UK jungle and drum and bass scene.

Big Brovaz emerged from London's vibrant early-2000s music scene, bringing together R&B singing, rap and hip-hop influences in a format that crossed over successfully into mainstream pop. Their debut single, “Nu Flow”, became a major hit, reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart and helping establish the group as one of the era's most recognisable British R&B acts.

The remix brings in two important names from UK electronic music. Shy FX had already established himself as a leading figure in jungle, most famously through the seminal 1994 track “Original Nuttah”. T Power was likewise associated with the evolution of British breakbeat, jungle and drum and bass. Their involvement gives this version a distinct identity beyond the original's R&B and hip-hop foundations, making it an interesting example of the cross-pollination between commercial urban music and underground British dance culture.

At 5:52, the remix provides an extended alternative for listeners and DJs looking beyond the original single version. Its appeal lies in the contrast between Big Brovaz's accessible vocal-led songwriting and the electronic production background of its remixers. It also documents a period when UK garage, jungle, drum and bass and chart R&B increasingly shared audiences, influences and club spaces.

For collectors of early-2000s UK dance music, fans of Shy FX and T Power, or anyone exploring the different versions of Big Brovaz's breakthrough hit, this remix is a worthwhile addition. It captures a distinctive moment in British music, when a mainstream R&B single could be reinterpreted through the country's established underground bass-music tradition.
