The Creation – How Does It Feel To Feel?

Originally released as a compilation of the band's finest recordings, How Does It Feel To Feel? is an essential collection from The Creation, one of the most influential yet underrated groups of the British mod and psychedelic rock scene. Although commercial success largely eluded them during the 1960s, their innovative guitar work, explosive live performances, and forward-thinking songwriting would inspire generations of artists, from punk pioneers to Britpop legends.

Produced during the height of London's swinging sixties, The Creation blended powerful R&B, driving mod rhythms, psychedelic experimentation, and raw garage rock energy. Guitarist Eddie Phillips became renowned for pioneering the use of a violin bow on electric guitar—years before the technique became famously associated with Jimmy Page—helping to create the band's distinctive sound.

The collection opens with the explosive How Does It Feel To Feel (UK Version), widely regarded as one of the defining singles of British psychedelia. Sylvette and Life Is Just Beginning continue the band's infectious mix of melody and attitude, while the US Version of the title track offers an alternative take on their signature anthem. Rare mono recordings of I Am The Walker, Ostrich Man, and Sweet Helen complete Side A.

Side B features the melodic Midway Down, followed by sought-after mono recordings including The Girls Are Naked, Bony Moronie, and the soulful Mercy, Mercy, Mercy. The reflective For All That I Am demonstrates the band's growing musical sophistication before Uncle Bert closes the collection with more of the energetic style that made The Creation cult heroes of the mod revival.

Packed with rare mono mixes, alternative versions, and many of the band's finest recordings, How Does It Feel To Feel? is an indispensable release for collectors of British psychedelia, garage rock, and mod music. A true cult classic, it showcases a band whose influence far exceeded their chart success.
