An important, disturbing spoken-word document from one of the defining moments of twentieth-century history, this vinyl LP preserves Adolf Hitler’s address to the German Reichstag on 1 September 1939 – the day Nazi Germany invaded Poland and the Second World War began in Europe.

Delivered in Berlin as German forces were already attacking Poland, the speech presented the Nazi regime’s justification for its actions, using fabricated grievances and misleading claims to portray Germany as responding to Polish aggression. It is therefore a significant historical source for examining Nazi propaganda, the political rhetoric surrounding the outbreak of war, and the way the regime sought to explain and legitimise its invasion.
