Cher ‎– Half-Breed

Cher – Half-Breed

Released in 1973, Half-Breed captures Cher in a distinctive period of her solo career, combining polished pop production, expressive vocals and a mixture of original songs and carefully chosen covers. Produced by Snuff Garrett, the album features the dramatic, chart-topping title track alongside melodic ballads and story-driven songs that showcase Cher’s versatility as a performer.

Highlights include Cher’s interpretation of Paul and Linda McCartney’s “My Love”, a version of the Bee Gees’ “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”, and “The Long And Winding Road”, bringing her own vocal character to familiar songwriting. “Carousel Man” adds another memorable pop moment, while “David’s Song”, “Melody” and “This God-Forsaken Day” give the album a varied and reflective feel.

The title track “Half-Breed” became a US number-one hit, helping make this one of Cher’s notable early-1970s solo releases. With its blend of catchy pop, emotional ballads and vintage 1970s production, Half-Breed is a worthwhile addition for Cher fans, collectors of classic pop LPs and anyone exploring her music from this era.
