Recorded at Webster Hall in New York City in June 1961, the album finds Krupa reworking classical staples like Khachaturian's fiery Sabre Dance, the sweeping American Bolero, and Falla's Ritual Fire Dance with the drive and swing of a full big band. Selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, including Arab Dance and March, sit alongside dramatic pieces like Valse Triste and the rousing Poet And Peasant Overture, all filtered through Krupa's unmistakable percussive energy.
