Jerusalem – Jerusalem

Released in 1972, Jerusalem is the one and only studio album from the British hard rock band Jerusalem, a cult classic that has earned a devoted following among collectors of early 1970s rock. Produced by the legendary Ian Gillan of Deep Purple, the album combines thunderous riffs, blues-based hard rock, and progressive influences into a powerful and often overlooked gem from the golden age of British rock.

Despite its commercial obscurity upon release, Jerusalem has since been recognised as an influential album whose heavy guitar work, dynamic songwriting, and energetic performances anticipated many of the sounds that would define hard rock and heavy metal later in the decade. With strong vocals, driving rhythms, and memorable hooks, the band created an album that continues to be rediscovered by fans of vintage rock.

The album opens with the hard-hitting Daddy Who Has Made, before moving through standout tracks including Mr. Ego, the infectious Jesus Is The Most Fantastic, the melodic Maybe, Noah, and Come To Me. Side B continues with the atmospheric If You Care To Listen, the expansive Days Passing By, the thought-provoking What If Jesus Is Right, the powerful High Tide, and concludes with the concise yet memorable Neutral, bringing this remarkable album to a fitting close.

With Ian Gillan's polished production enhancing the band's raw energy, Jerusalem stands as one of the great lost treasures of British hard rock. Essential for fans of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, and other classic 1970s rock bands, this LP is a rewarding addition to any serious vinyl collection.
