Released in 1974, Do It Good is the debut album by KC and the Sunshine Band, before they became globally associated with the polished disco hits that defined the late 1970s. At this early stage, the group’s sound was more rooted in raw funk, R&B, and Miami-based groove music, laying the groundwork for their later success.

Led by producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Harry Wayne Casey, the album reflects a looser, more band-oriented style compared to their later chart-driven disco productions. The emphasis is on rhythmic guitar riffs, brass-driven arrangements, and danceable but unrefined funk energy.

Although Do It Good did not achieve the commercial breakthrough of later albums like KC and the Sunshine Band (1975), it contains early versions of the groove-heavy approach that would soon dominate dance floors worldwide.
