“Rudi's In Love” is a classic late-1960s British beat and psychedelic-pop single from “Locomotive”, the Birmingham band originally formed from the group that would become known as The Uglys. Released in 1968 on Parlophone, the record captures the colourful, increasingly adventurous sound of the British underground as beat music gave way to psychedelia, progressive pop and brass-led arrangements.

The A-side, “Rudi's In Love”, is the standout track, driven by a catchy melody, prominent brass and a distinctive rhythmic feel. Its unusual blend of pop hooks, psychedelic touches and jazz-influenced instrumentation gives it a character all of its own, making it a particularly sought-after example of British psychedelia and freakbeat from the period.
