Mudhoney – Let It Slide is a blistering example of the raw, distorted sound that helped define Seattle's early grunge scene. Released in 1991, this compact EP captures Mudhoney at their most direct, combining fuzz-heavy guitars, pounding drums and Mark Arm's unmistakably ragged vocals with the band's trademark punk attitude.
The title track "Let It Slide" kicks things off with a relentless guitar riff and driving rhythm, perfectly capturing the band's ability to make short, aggressive songs feel enormous. "Ounce Of Deception" follows with another burst of distorted garage-punk energy.
Side two features "Paperback Life", a brief and furious blast of grunge, followed by "The Money Will Roll Right In", a fan favourite that showcases Mudhoney's irreverent humour and rough-edged guitar sound. The release closes with an alternate version of "Check Out Time", offering collectors a slightly different take on material associated with the band's early-1990s period.
Mudhoney were central to the development of the Seattle grunge movement, having emerged from the city's underground alongside future heavyweights such as Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.
