Prong – Whose Fist Is This Anyway [Four Industrial Mixes]
Prong – Whose Fist Is This Anyway [Four Industrial Mixes]
Prong – Whose Fist Is This Anyway [Four Industrial Mixes] is a DJ-focused 12-inch showcasing four radically reworked versions of tracks from Prong's influential industrial metal catalogue. Released during the band's early-1990s breakthrough period, the record highlights their ability to bridge industrial rock, metal, hardcore, and electronic dance music.
The A-side opens with the "Prove You Wrong (Fuzzbuster Mix)," transforming the original's aggressive guitar-driven sound into a more electronic and rhythm-focused production. "Hell If I Could (Dub Mix)" strips the track back further, emphasising its groove and industrial textures while giving the arrangement a distinctly club-oriented feel.
On the flip, the extended "Prove You Wrong (Xanax Mix)" stretches the track into an almost nine-minute industrial workout, allowing the heavy rhythms, distorted textures, and hypnotic elements to develop at length. "(Get A) Grip (On Yourself) (Harm Mix)" completes the release with another alternative interpretation, further demonstrating Prong's crossover between heavy music and electronic production.
Prong emerged from New York's underground scene, developing a distinctive sound that combined the physical aggression of hardcore punk and metal with the mechanical precision of industrial music. Their influence was particularly significant during the development of industrial metal in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
With four alternate mixes and an emphasis on extended, beat-driven arrangements, Whose Fist Is This Anyway is an excellent collector's piece for fans of Prong, industrial metal, industrial dance, remix culture, and early-1990s alternative music.
