Released in 1969, Santana's self-titled debut is a landmark record that introduced the world to a truly original sound - a hypnotic fusion of blistering guitar, Latin percussion, and psychedelic rock energy. Fuelled by the band's now-legendary performance at Woodstock, the album climbed to No. 4 on the Billboard charts and remains one of the most influential debuts in rock history.

The record's biggest hit, a fiery cover of Evil Ways, put the band firmly on the map, while the propulsive Jingo lets percussionists Michael Carabello and José "Chepito" Areas cut loose with a frenzied Afro-Latin pulse. The album is bookended by two instrumentals that showcase the group's telepathic interplay: the atmospheric opener Waiting and the explosive closer Soul Sacrifice, the very jam that electrified the crowd at Woodstock and became one of Santana's defining signature moments.
