A luminous meeting of four boundary-pushing improvisers, Les Égarés brings together kora, cello, saxophone, and accordion in a fluid, borderless dialogue that feels both deeply rooted and entirely contemporary.

At its core, the project is a conversation between traditions - West African griot heritage through Ballaké Sissoko’s kora, classical and chamber sensibilities via Vincent Segal’s cello, modern jazz expression through Émile Parisien’s saxophone, and the harmonic, breath-like textures of Vincent Peirani’s accordion. Together, they create music that resists categorisation, moving instead through mood, texture, and shared intuition.

The compositions - mostly written individually by the quartet - unfold like travel sketches, shifting between meditative stillness and rhythmic propulsion. Pieces like Ta Nyé and Banja draw from Mandé traditions, while Orient Express and Nomad’s Sky evoke motion, displacement, and the idea of musical travel itself. Even when drawing on outside influences, the group transforms them into something wholly their own: intimate, exploratory, and improvisational at its core.

Les Égarés feels less like a conventional album and more like a shared journey - four distinct voices wandering, listening, and constantly reorienting around each other.
