Telemetrik – My Lightyear: Act One

Telemetrik’s My Lightyear: Act One is the opening vinyl chapter of the producer’s ambitious My Lightyear project, released through Black Sun Empire Recordings. Originally appearing as a two-track 12" around 2007–08, this release introduces the darker, futuristic sound that would define the full My Lightyear album.

The record opens with “Cosmos”, a six-and-a-half-minute drum & bass workout that establishes the project’s spacious, science-fiction atmosphere while maintaining a heavy, club-focused rhythmic drive. On the flip is “R.U.R.”, a collaboration with Impulse, bringing another layer of intensity to Telemetrik’s precise, technology-driven production.

Telemetrik’s My Lightyear project was conceived as a multi-part vinyl series, with Act One followed by Act Two and Act Three before the complete album arrived in 2008. The later instalments expanded the project with collaborations involving HYX, Evancipation and Black Sun Empire, making this first 12" an important starting point for the complete story.

For fans of neurofunk, techstep, dark drum & bass and Black Sun Empire-style electronic music, My Lightyear: Act One is a particularly desirable piece of early-2000s D&B vinyl. The record also carries strong DJ and collector appeal, with contemporary promotion listing support from major figures including Optical, Ed Rush, Klute, Noisia, Calyx, Pendulum and Dieselboy.

The original vinyl edition is catalogued as BSELP004SAM on Black Sun Empire Recordings, with Cosmos and R.U.R. forming the first two chapters of the wider My Lightyear sequence. It is a focused two-track release that captures Telemetrik at the beginning of one of his most ambitious projects.
