The KLF – America: What Time Is Love?

The KLF – America: What Time Is Love? is a landmark release from the eccentric British electronic duo, presenting their explosive stadium-house interpretation of "What Time Is Love?" alongside the darker, politically charged "America No More".

Released in 1992, the record belongs to the period when The KLF were at the height of their influence, transforming underground rave and acid-house ideas into huge, sample-heavy productions designed for both clubs and the mainstream. "America: What Time Is Love?" takes the original What Time Is Love? concept and expands it into a pounding, psychedelic dance track, driven by a relentless beat, sirens, vocal samples and an unmistakable sense of scale.

The track is closely associated with The KLF's Stadium House approach, which deliberately fused the energy of rave culture with the grandeur of arena rock. The duo's use of samples, particularly from rock and pop recordings, helped create an intentionally oversized sound that became one of their defining characteristics.

On the B-side, "America No More" takes a considerably more confrontational direction. The track's darker atmosphere and anti-war message contrast with the celebratory dancefloor energy of the A-side, highlighting the political and conceptual edge that often sat beneath The KLF's seemingly playful productions.

The KLF, formed by Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, became one of the most unconventional acts in British electronic music. Their mixture of acid house, techno, ambient music, sampling, performance art and pop culture produced a string of hugely influential records before their infamous withdrawal from the music industry in 1992.

For collectors of The KLF, acid house, rave, techno, electronic music and early-1990s dance vinyl, America: What Time Is Love? is an essential piece of British rave history.
