The Velvet Underground & Nico – The Velvet Underground & Nico is one of the most influential debut albums in rock history. "Run, Run, Run" delivers a more abrasive rock'n'roll edge, followed by Nico's unforgettable performance on "All Tomorrow's Parties."

Side two begins with the uncompromising "Heroin," one of Lou Reed's most celebrated and challenging compositions. Its shifting tempo and relentless intensity remain a defining example of the band's willingness to push rock music into darker territory. "There She Goes Again" provides a more accessible pop influence, while "I'll Be Your Mirror" offers a tender contrast to the album's harsher material.

The closing tracks, "Black Angel's Death Song" and "European Son To Delmore Schwartz," return to the band's experimental side, ending the record with extended drones, feedback and avant-garde textures.

Although the album was not an immediate commercial success, its influence grew enormously over subsequent decades. Artists across punk, post-punk, alternative rock, indie, noise and experimental music have drawn from The Velvet Underground's combination of artistic experimentation and raw rock'n'roll.
