Uncut The Playlist September 2006

Uncut – The Playlist: September 2006

A wide-ranging compilation from Uncut magazine, the September 2006 edition of The Playlist brings together 14 tracks spanning indie rock, psychedelic music, glam rock, experimental sounds and classic songwriting.

The selection opens with The Dears’ “Whites Only Party”, followed by Micah P. Hinson & The Opera Circuit’s take on “You’re Only Lonely” and the Young Knives’ sharp-edged “Loughborough Suicide”. Elsewhere, P.F. Sloan’s protest-song classic “Eve Of Destruction” sits alongside Captain Beefheart’s wonderfully offbeat “Ice Cream For Crow” and Slade’s glam-rock deep cut “Miles Out To Sea”.

The compilation continues through the psych-rock intensity of Comets on Fire, the distinctive voice of Billy MacKenzie, the power-pop of Nazz and Chris Difford’s Squeeze-era classic “Up The Junction”. Amon Düül II, Lambchop, Chilli Willi & The Red Hot Peppers and Pulp complete a tracklist that balances musical discovery with established favourites.

Originally issued with Uncut magazine issue 112 in September 2006, this promotional CD captures the magazine’s eclectic musical outlook and makes an appealing collectible for fans of alternative music and curated compilations.
