Raw Emotions – S.O.S. (Rescue Me)

Raw Emotions' “S.O.S. (Rescue Me)” is a deep and soulful house release built around an impressive selection of late-1990s/early-2000s club remixes. Rather than presenting a single straightforward version, this 12" spreads the track across six different interpretations, bringing together some of the most respected names in underground house production including Precious Paul, NY Alliance, Abacus and Jazz-N-Groove.

The record opens with Precious Paul's Deepa Rhythm & Soul Mix, setting the tone with a warm, deeply musical house treatment. The NY Alliance Mix follows on the B-side alongside the Abacus Mix – Raw Fusion Edit, bringing the distinctive sound of Chicago house producer Jonny Miller, better known as Abacus, into the equation. His productions are particularly prized by collectors of deep house for their understated, jazz-influenced approach and emphasis on groove and musicality.

The C-side is devoted to two Jazz-N-Groove interpretations: the Club Vocal and Soulfuric Dub. Jazz-N-Groove were closely associated with the sophisticated, soulful end of American house music, and the Soulfuric connection places these mixes firmly within the classic deep-house and soulful-house tradition that flourished around specialist US labels and DJ culture.

Completing the set is the Boss Hogg Mix, giving the release another contrasting take on “S.O.S. (Rescue Me)”. Across the six versions, the track moves between deep house, vocal house, garage-influenced rhythms and stripped-back club grooves, making the record particularly useful for DJs as well as collectors.

The strength of the remix line-up is what makes this release especially appealing. Abacus, Jazz-N-Groove and Precious Paul are all names worth looking for among collectors of classic deep and soulful house, while the variety of mixes makes this a useful snapshot of the sophisticated US-influenced house sound of its era. It is a strong choice for fans of deep house, soulful house, US garage, vocal house and Soulfuric-style club music.
