War Featuring Eric Burdon – Love Is All Around
War Featuring Eric Burdon – Love Is All Around
A powerful meeting of psychedelic rock, deep funk, blues and soul, Love Is All Around captures the distinctive chemistry between Eric Burdon and War during their late-1960s and early-1970s collaboration. Released in 1976 on ABC Records, the album brings together previously unreleased recordings from the group’s early years, pairing Burdon’s raw, expressive vocal delivery with War’s fluid rhythms, infectious percussion, soulful keyboards and distinctive horn work.
The title track sets the tone with a relaxed but muscular groove, while the band’s version of “Tobacco Road” draws on blues-rock intensity. “Home Dream” and “Magic Mountain” explore the group’s more expansive, atmospheric side, giving the musicians room to stretch out. The second side features two extended interpretations of well-known songs: The Beatles’ “A Day In The Life” and the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black”, reworked through War’s exploratory, rhythm-driven sound.
For fans of Eric Burdon, War and the adventurous crossover between rock, funk and soul, Love Is All Around offers a fascinating snapshot of a short-lived but creatively distinctive musical partnership.
