Arcade Fire – Reflektor

Expansive, ambitious, and rhythmically adventurous, Reflektor sees Arcade Fire push far beyond indie rock into a rich fusion of art rock, dance, and global influences. Produced in part by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, the album pulses with disco grooves, Haitian rhythms, and atmospheric electronics - resulting in one of the band’s most daring and immersive works.

Released as a double album, Reflektor unfolds across two contrasting halves. The first leans into vibrant, rhythm-driven tracks like Reflektor - featuring uncredited vocals from David Bowie—and Here Comes The Night Time, blending dancefloor energy with introspective lyricism. Songs like We Exist and Normal Person balance that groove with the band’s signature anthemic songwriting.

The second half moves into darker, more meditative territory, drawing inspiration from the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Tracks such as Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice) and It’s Never Over (Hey Orpheus) explore love, loss, and disconnection, while Afterlife stands out as one of the album’s emotional high points - melancholic yet strangely uplifting.

With contributions from artists like Kid Koala, and a production style that blends analogue warmth with digital experimentation, Reflektor is a bold, genre-defying statement - restless, reflective, and endlessly layered.
