Club suSU (Get Lifted!)
Club suSU – Get Lifted!
Club suSU – Get Lifted! is a superb 2005 snapshot of the sophisticated, soulful side of the UK and international house scene. Released on suSU Records as a 2LP vinyl compilation, the album brings together a carefully selected mix of deep house, garage house, soulful club music and disco-influenced grooves, capturing the warm, uplifting sound of mid-2000s dance music. The original UK vinyl edition was released as SuALBLP 13.
The compilation opens with Bah Samba's “Calma (Quentin Harris Remix)”, followed by Benzo's “I've Been Thinking”, before moving into Blaze's “Not Far Away (Roots Extended Mix)” and Candy Apple's “Those Sweet Words”. These tracks demonstrate the compilation's emphasis on musicality and groove, drawing together deep, soulful and vocal-led house rather than relying solely on harder club sounds.
Side C features Phil Hooton's “A Love Supreme”, a house interpretation inspired by the music of John Coltrane, alongside Awakening's “Take Me Now (Bah Samba Acoustic Mix)”. The result is a particularly atmospheric section of the album, with jazz, soul and acoustic influences woven into the house production. Phil Hooton's involvement is especially notable, with the producer credited on the compilation as both composer and primary artist.
The final side brings together K-Klass vs. Frances Nero with “Footsteps” and Axwell's “High Energy”, the latter featuring the legendary disco vocalist Evelyn Thomas. Axwell was already an established figure within the international house scene by 2005, and Club suSU – Get Lifted! captures his early-career work before his later global success as part of Swedish House Mafia.
What makes this compilation particularly appealing is the quality of its contributors. Blaze, Bah Samba, K-Klass, Axwell, Phil Hooton and Benzo all appear alongside a selection of producers and vocalists connected to the deeper, more soulful end of house music. The original 2005 release was also issued as a two-CD edition, with the second disc presenting extended and unmixed versions of several of the tracks featured on the vinyl compilation.
For collectors and DJs, this Club suSU 2LP is an excellent example of the mid-2000s deep house sound, particularly suited to fans of soulful house, garage house, vocal house, disco house and classic club music. With its combination of established house names and strong underground selections, Get Lifted! makes an attractive addition to any collection of 2000s electronic and dance music vinyl.
