Clapton Chronicles (The Best Of Eric Clapton) is a 1999 compilation bringing together some of Eric Clapton's most successful and recognisable recordings from the mid-1980s through to the end of the 1990s. Originally released in October 1999, the collection focuses on Clapton's Warner Bros./Reprise era, combining blues-rock guitar, polished album rock, contemporary pop and the more restrained singer-songwriter style that characterised much of his later career.

The collection opens with "Blue Eyes Blue", written for the soundtrack to Runaway Bride, followed by the Grammy-winning "Change The World" and the deeply personal "My Father's Eyes". "Tears In Heaven", originally released in 1992, remains one of Clapton's most famous and emotionally significant recordings, while the Unplugged version of "Layla" provides a radically stripped-back interpretation of his classic Derek And The Dominos composition.

The compilation also features key recordings from Clapton's 1980s and early-1990s catalogue, including "Pretending", "Bad Love", "Before You Accuse Me (Take A Look At Yourself)", "It's In The Way That You Use It" and "Forever Man". "Running On Faith" appears in its acoustic Unplugged form, while "She's Waiting" represents the Behind The Sun era. The later tracks "River Of Tears" and "(I) Get Lost" bring the collection into the late 1990s, with the latter associated with the 1999 film The Story Of Us.

This edition concludes with "Wonderful Tonight (Live Edit)", a live version included as a bonus track on European/non-US editions of the compilation. The recordings represented here span approximately 1985–1999, making this a useful overview of Clapton's commercially successful solo period between his mid-1980s comeback and the end of the 1990s.
