Produced in collaboration with a wide cast of musicians and actors, the album unfolds like a gothic stage production - part rock opera, part literary adaptation. Voices from figures such as Willem Dafoe, Steve Buscemi, and Amanda Plummer bring Poe’s characters to life, while Reed’s signature guitar work and electronic textures provide a stark, atmospheric foundation.

Across its two acts, The Raven moves through reinterpretations of classic Poe themes - madness, obsession, love, and mortality. Tracks like The Fall Of The House Of Usher and The Tell-Tale Heart are transformed into cinematic soundscapes, while more melodic moments such as Perfect Day and The Bed offer brief, fragile glimpses of emotional clarity within the darkness.

A particularly notable moment comes with Hop Frog, featuring David Bowie, a striking collaboration that underscores the album’s boundary-pushing creative ambition. The inclusion of avant-garde jazz icon Ornette Coleman further expands the record’s sonic palette into free-form experimental territory.
