A refined and atmospheric collection of impressionist miniatures arranged for guitar trio, this album by Pro Arte Guitar Trio explores the delicate, colour-rich sound world of early 20th-century French music through the works of Debussy, Ravel, and Satie.

The programme draws heavily on the poetic harmonic language of Claude Debussy, whose piano works - such as Arabesque No.1 and selections from the Préludes - translate surprisingly well into the plucked textures of classical guitar. The ensemble captures the impressionistic fluidity and shifting tonal light that define Debussy’s style, while reshaping it into a more intimate, chamber-like form.

Music by Maurice Ravel adds a more structured elegance, particularly in Pavane pour une infante défunte and selections from Le Tombeau de Couperin, where clarity of form meets gentle melancholy. In contrast, the works of Erik Satie bring a minimalist, almost surreal stillness - his Gnossiennes and Gymnopédies offering sparse, contemplative spaces that contrast beautifully with Debussy’s flowing textures.
