Singing Bones is a dark, atmospheric collection of gothic Americana from the husband-and-wife duo The Handsome Family. Built around the songwriting of Brett and Rennie Sparks, the album blends sparse instrumentation with vivid lyrical imagery, drawing on country, folk, and noir traditions. Tracks like “Far From Any Road” (later widely recognised as the theme to True Detective) showcase their ability to create haunting, cinematic moods with minimal arrangement.
